CONFIRMEDENHANCED ×212Dr Faraday has written the technical sections of this dossier. I have written the rest. Where we disagree, he has used a footnote and I have used the delete key. — C.M.
1. Summary
There is a programme. It began, in the Wandoona district, no later than 1991. It selects women, mostly, on Tuesdays, mostly, and it produces children who are tall, healthy, good at reading and, in the one case the Collective can document from birth to adulthood, works in IT and does not want to be in this dossier.
The programme is run by Greys. One of the Greys is called Gary. Gary has not been in touch.
2. Timeline
- 1991 First contact. Blue light, three small beings, the flat behind the bakery. Examination. Triangular mark on the left shin, still present. "Processed."
- 1993 Eighth visit. First appearance of the taller being with the clipboard. Named Gary on the ninth visit, on the basis that "he looked like a Gary". Did not object. Has never objected to anything.
- 1996 Nineteenth visit. Told, by a feeling in the head, that I had been "selected for the programme". Asked what the programme was. Feeling did not elaborate.
- 1997 Jaxon born, Wandoona District Hospital. 4.1 kg, 56 cm. Midwife said "big boy". Midwife did not know how right she was.
- 1999 Gary photographed at the laundry window (see Evidence). Identified from posture. Did not come in. Did not meet his son.
- 2002 Implant located behind left ear by X-ray. Radiologist wrote "artefact". See separate file.
- 2005–2015 Decline in standards aboard the craft. Shared benches. Flickering light. Returned to wrong house (×1). Returned to back fence (×1, weather).
- 2016 Jaxon moves to Brisbane for work. Programme "enters a new phase", per Dr Faraday. Per Jaxon, "I got a job, Mum".
- 2018 This dossier. Forty-seven visits. Forty-eight disputed. Gary: no contact.
3. The subject (Exhibit A)
Exhibit A: Jaxon Mangan, developmental record (compiled by his mother, who was there)
| Age | Height | District average (Dr Faraday) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Birth | 56 cm | 50 cm | "Big boy." |
| 2 | 94 cm | 86 cm | Reading the back of the Weet-Bix box. Aloud. Correctly. |
| 5 | 118 cm | 109 cm | Asked the school why the sky was "that colour". Sent home with a note. |
| 10 | 152 cm | 138 cm | Built the Collective's first guestbook. Shane disputes this. |
| 16 | 186 cm | 173 cm | Colds to date: nil. Broken bones: nil. Tuesdays missed: nil, "because you make me come, Mum". |
| 24 | 196 cm | 178 cm | Brisbane. IT. Still no cold. "I take vitamin C, Mum." |
Dr Faraday notes that the district average was estimated by him from "looking at the kids at the Show" and may be low. He further notes that 196 cm is "consistent with the Tall Grey morphology" and, in a footnote I have deleted, with Cheryl's father, who was also tall.
The medical record is the strongest evidence the Collective holds. Twenty-four years. Not one cold. Not one ear infection. Chickenpox went through the school in 2003 and took out every child in his year but him. The school nurse called it “a good immune system”. I called it what it is.
He reads fast. He has always read fast. He has a way of looking at a thing, a bit sideways, with his head still, that I have only ever seen one other place, and that place was the end of my bed in 1991.
4. Other reported participants
The Collective has received, through the Tuesday group and the website, accounts from eleven other women and two men who believe they have been selected. Names withheld; the Programme has enough information already.
- “W”, Charleville. Taken 1994–1999. Daughter, born 1996, “very tall, very calm, won’t eat anything red”. Now a vet nurse.
- “D”, Longreach. Taken 1989–1992, before Cheryl, making her the earliest known participant in Queensland. Twin boys, 1990. Both tall. One is a shearer, one “went to Canberra and we don’t talk about it”. Dr Faraday regards the Canberra twin as ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.
- “The man from Charleville” (unrelated to W). Reports being told he was selected and then “not hearing anything back”. Dr Faraday believes he was selected as a control. Cheryl believes he was selected and then Gary lost the clipboard.
- “M”, via the website, Perth. Claims three hybrid children and a fourth “on the way”. Cheryl notes M’s husband is “also tall” and has asked M to consider all possibilities, which is more than anyone ever asked Cheryl.
Common features across all accounts: Tuesday or thereabouts; blue light; the feeling of being told rather than asked; tall children; good readers; a reluctance in the children, on reaching adulthood, to discuss any of it.
Dr Faraday calls this last feature “programme discipline”. I call it being twenty-four.
5. Gary
I want to be measured about this because Warren has asked me to be and because it’s a dossier, not a letter.
Gary is a Tall Grey. Approximately two metres. Domed head, large dark eyes, no mouth that I’ve seen, a way of standing with his weight on one leg that I would recognise anywhere and have, twice, at the laundry window and once, I’m fairly sure, in the car park at Woolworths in Roma, although that may have been a man.
Gary has been present at or responsible for, by my count, thirty-one of forty-seven visits. Gary performed the procedure in 1996 that produced, nine months later, a 4.1 kilogram boy. Gary has seen that boy once, through a flyscreen, at a distance of four metres, in 1999, and did not knock.
In twenty-one years Gary has contributed to the raising of that boy: nothing. Not a dollar. Not a light in the sky on his birthday. Not a shape in the wheat that could be read as a “J”. The Programme, whatever it is for, does not do child support, and I have written to the Department of Human Services about this and received a reply saying they “cannot pursue a liable parent who cannot be identified or located”, which, I said, is exactly my problem, Sandra.
6. Dr Faraday’s technical assessment
The hybrid programme is consistent with a long-term genetic survey conducted by a species with excellent transport and no bedside manner. Selection appears to favour the Wandoona district, Tuesdays, and women who leave the laundry window open. Products of the programme exhibit height, health and literacy at levels I would describe as 8 Fu. The absence of any follow-up from the programme’s operators is either an oversight on a galactic scale or evidence that the programme has concluded and we are the results.
I note for the record that I offered myself for selection in 1998, 2003 and 2011, and have not been taken, which Noreen says is “the one piece of evidence on this site that proves they’ve got some sense”.
7. Status
CONFIRMED. One hybrid, documented birth to adulthood. Thirteen further reports. One father, absent. One mother, present, every Tuesday, 7 pm, the CWA Hall, bring a plate.
Appendix: statement from the subject
Received by email, 4 May 2018, reproduced at the subject's request in full
Mum. I love you. I am not a hybrid. I am tall because Grandad was tall. I don't get colds because I wash my hands and I live in a flat on my own and don't go to a CWA hall full of people's plates every Tuesday. I was reading at two because you read to me every night, which you never mention on the website and which was the actual nice part of my childhood. I'd like the Christmas photo taken down, I'd like my height chart taken down, and I'd like it noted that I have asked for this every year since 2014.
I'm coming up for your birthday. I'll stay till Wednesday. If Gary turns up I'll have a word.
— J.
Request noted. Photo stays. He’s coming up for my birthday.
— Cheryl
